Nature is the primary element in Dana Volkert's work; the artist isolates and enlarges details at an almost cellular level, creating compelling abstract compositions. Dana Volkert pursues her aesthetic quest with a wide range of painterly techniques and materials. Combining oil, gold leaf and mother of pearl in elegant organic patterns that interrelate with each other, Volkert is creating an installation throughout the gallery space. Maintaining a personal style in which the line is predominant, she constantly adopts new solutions to capture what is the inner movement within the natural elements. Dana Volkert received her bachelor's of fine art from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1990 and currently lives and works in Middleburg, VA, she is married to the sculptor, Eric Goulder.
