Jonathan Ehrenberg
Jonathan Ehrenberg was born and raised in New York City. He received an MFA from Yale University in 1999. Ehrenberg's paintings focus on skylights, chimneys, air-ducts, and enclosures found on the rooftops of New York City. Removed from the urban environment where they are commonly found, Ehrenberg isolates the structures in a barren, wintry landscape - the silent background evoking a sense of desolation; thus detached, the images become self-contained entities that must be contemplated without reference to their original location and purpose.
